Compromise and Resistance

In class today, we completed the notes on the Compromise of 1850 and began section 2 of chapter 10. We read and answered questions on people who resisted slavery, included Harriet Tubman with the underground railroad, and the effect of Uncle Tom's Cabin.

There is no homework assigned other than to complete DBQ worksheets if they have yet to be finished.

Chapter 10



Today in class we started Chapter 10: The Union in Peril. We discussed the relationship between Westward Expansion, States Rights, and Slavery. We then went over pages 304-308 in the textbook, looking at the Wilmot Proviso and the Compromise of 1850.

Expanding Markets and Moving West



Today we started Chapter 9 in class. We discussed the BIG IDEAS in this unit. They were, ADVANCES IN COMMUNICATION AND TRAVEL, WESTWARD EXPANSION, AND WAR WITH MEXICO. During class we completed worksheet 9.1 Guided Reading.
